We’re off on another Strong Family Adventure!

Kathy

As I sit here and type this I can’t believe how emotional I am feeling. The tears are leaking out of my eyes and my heart already feels wrecked as I think about the families who we will help build houses for. The fact that God chose us to make a difference in their lives and that we get to travel this amazing journey with 3 other awesome families is something I am so grateful for.

Months and months (and months!) of planning, preparation and fundraising and tomorrow we actually fly to Mexico and start this crazy adventure we know God has called us on! My heart is full of expectation and I am going with my eye’s wide open as to what God will show me while we are there! I am super excited, a little nervous and so expectant all wrapped up into one and I am more than ready for this next Family Adventure.

I know we will come home all changed and have a lot of fun along the way!

I am excited for Mexico because we get to build houses for families that don’t have any. It is going to be hot and sunny and I love that. I am looking forward to going to an orphanage as there will be lots of cute kids but it might also be sad as they have no family. Mum will want to bring some kids home!

I am also excited to meet the young girl who is my age who we are building a house for, I hope I get to play with her.

And I can’t wait for the Mexican food!

I am excited for our trip because we get to change the lives of the people we will build houses for. It will be fun building the houses and hanging out with everyone. I am excited that I will get to have my birthday in Mexico and eat lots of Mexican food.

I am thankful that God helped us raise all the money for the houses.

I like to push against boundaries and believe for the impossible… and yet I’m always amazed when the very thing I pursue comes off as successful. And yet here we sit, waiting for the plane to pick us up and whisk us off to Mexico. The road to get here has been challenging and faith-building, but isn’t every worthwhile adventure?

What makes this Strong Family Adventure so exciting is the Project Purpose Team we get to work and play with and the families we are building houses for.  When a team like this comes together for a worthy cause that changes the lives of other families there can only be good stories to be told.  We will have stories to tell you about how we cried with laughter at the fun times we had living with 22 in the same house.  We will have stories to tell you of how I cried like a baby when we met the Mexican families we are serving for the first time.  We will have stories to tell you of the life-changing transformation we see as we prayer for others to meet the love of Jesus.  And we will tell stories of the goodness of God as He shows us a bigger view of His world.  Oh boy, are we gonna have some stories!

I’m not sure I feel completely ready for what is going to happen in the next month, but I’m excited at the thought of being surprised.
