I am still amazed this is happening!! I know we are now on our way and we have been planning for ages but I am still amazed to be involved and still wondering how is it all going to be? Thankfully I am now feeling excited and not just nervous, I can’t wait to reach out and grab it all with open arms and enjoy every experience that God has in store.  I hope we can communicate with our build families how much we bring from our own families, friends, churches, schools and community, all your support has been overwhelming –  Thank you.  Here is an awesome song that I love and I like to keep hitting the repeat button on the car stereo and have a good old sing a long, the girls tell me that’s enough but it’s just not got old for me yet!  Turn it up people!

So here we are, 20 past late on the night before we leave and there seems to be so much going through my head… Tickets, passports, flight times, kids, clothes and all the things that need to happen before you go away but when I sit down and stop  for a moment there is a very different thought. It is of Guadalupe, the 73 year old grandfather and his wife Gabriela, one of the families that we are going to build the house for. Guadalupe works night shifts as a security guard and earns about $60 USD a week. He has lived in a shack, probably with a dirt floor for 23 years and in a few days time that will change. I cannot wait.

I am grateful to be involved in this opportunity to help this family. I am excited to be able to make a difference. I am thankful that you have all seen the need and supported us.  Bring on the challenge, bring on the experiences, bring on the fun!

Can someone remind me is it “righty tighty, lefty loosey”, “Measure twice, cut once”  Quick anything else I can learn in the next 48 hours…

I can’t wait to arrive in Mexico after 160 days of counting down we are finally leaving. I can’t wait to meet all the families over there and try all the food. I think it will be fun experiencing the Mexican culture and trying those real tall smoothies Saraid keeps talking about. It’s going to be so fun building the houses and giving the families the gift of an all-expenses paid for house and to see the look on their faces. It is going to be like Extreme makeover home edition “Move that minivan!!”

Wow! I can’t wait till we are there, I am so nervous. My favorite bible verse is” I am the vine you are the branches those who remain in me and I in them will produce much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing” John 15v5. I have made a quilt to give to one of the families or one of the kids at the orphanage

It feels like yesterday we were counting down from 100 days and now we are heading off! I am really looking forward to meeting new people and growing closer to my family and to the other families we are sharing this adventure with.  I am also looking forward to the building of the two houses and getting to know the families.  “I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13

For at least 160 days I have been counting down to the day that we go to Mexico, it is now only 3 days away. I am feeling nervous and excited about our trip, I am feeling very pumped about building the houses and can’t wait to paint the houses. I also can’t wait to spend time with the other families as well as the families we are building for. I am also looking forward to the trip over to Mexico because it will be great to spend time with my family. I think after this experience I will be a better person because I will realise all the things I have.
