About to step out of my comfortable bubble….

When I said the words….”See you in Mexico!” as we said goodbye to the Bowler family, reality hit like a brick!!!!! All sorts of crazy emotions came over me. Eeeek!! In a few days’ time we will be over the other side of the world!!! Yes I’m excited and so thrilled that we are offering this gift of two homes to two families, but also feeling very vulnerable about venturing outside my small, comfortable, 40-something yr old, Hamilton bubble. I’m just praying like crazy….“God, please grow me as a person who sees things your way, even if it scares me and pops my comfort bubble!”

I am so looking forward to doing the building work. I love getting stuck-in to a hands-on project with the family…and this time it’s with a bigger family of 22!! We are SO fortunate to have this chance to go on this adventure with such good friends. I know we will have many, many laughs and good times.

This will be my first experience of being immersed in a culture so different from ‘little ole NZ’ and I am certain I will see things that will blow my mind and challenge my thinking. It’s so cool how we get to work alongside the families who we are building for, and really get to know them. SO pleased that our kids also get his chance to see and experience things that will change them, and who knows how this adventure will shape their future? Exciting times!

I just love the vision of ‘Homes of Hope’ It says it all! “To reach the poor communities of Mazatlan through the building of Homes of Hope, transforming their ways of thinking through teaching Biblical principles of community development, working alongside the local church for discipleship.”

My deepest thanks to those who have so generously shown your support helping us on this journey.

I really enjoy working with my family as a team, and I know it will be a blast working on this project with our extended team of friends. Will be good to see others being blessed by God through us. Just looking forward to the buzz God gives you when you give out to others. It will be great to explore another corner of the world with my family.

I am looking forward to EVERYTHING! I am expecting it to be very hot which will be interesting, but the only worry I have is not being able to understand the Mexicans.

I’m really looking forward to the whole experience of just being outside my comfort zone, seeing new things in a place where I haven’t been before. I think it will be lots of fun working with the Team, but I don’t think I will enjoy the heat. I am keen as to get on the tools and get into the building work!

I’m really looking forward to being used by God to just bless the socks off these people! I’m especially excited for the orphanage visits, doing the house builds, and making lots of new friends at the YWAM base….and of course, the FOOD! I’m a wee bit nervous about cockroaches coming up the drainpipes though! I’m a bit worried about coping with the heat and living with all 22 people in one house, but apparently everyone is loud in Mexico, so maybe we’ll be alright!
