Our last day in the colonias was not quite so rushed, we had done a lot of work in the first 2 days and it felt good to know we could spend some time finishing things of nicely. The second coat on the interior was finished up first, skirting boards installed and then the doors were hung, one of these was a little tricky but eventually it was finished. We did a few touch ups and then it was time for furniture and supplies, the girls busied themselves with arranging things just so and then we shared a meal with the family. Once again they offered cerviche, which was delicious and very generous of them.
Then it was time, Margarita’s husband, Jose, had come home from work, Evelyn had arrived home from school and we prayed for them and gave them the keys to the pink house. Our purpose for coming to Mazatlan was complete, it was very emotional for them to recieve a house and for us to know the journey that we have prayed about, fundraised for and thought about for over a year is now a reality. 2 families in Mexico now have houses. It felt strange hopping back into the vans saying Adios and driving away. Where our journey ends, theirs begins…
Thank you, thank you dear family and friends for all your prayers, support, cupcake love and generosity in our journey to Mazatlan, Mexico.
