20140930_095351It was another really hot day but we got out to the site as quick as we could, and before it got too hot the last of the second coat was put on the outside of the house.  Meanwhile it was all hands on to getting the rest of the gib hung, and stopped.  All the kids had a go with hanging the gib, as HOH have 11 battery powered drills.  It is so cool to see the kids all keen as to try out something new.  Taping and gib stopping carried on throughout the day finishing up with one coat of paint before pack up time.  The windows, doors and skirting boards had two coats of white paint earlier in the day and the doors and window frames were hung as the day progressed.  The guys put in a massive effort and got the roof all done before we packed up for the day.

While we are building it gives the Homes of Hope staff a great opportunity to talk to the neighbours in the close vicinity.  Margarita herself initially applied for the house because one was built next door to her property.  She did not actually apply for one herself she only applied on behalf of her parents, but when the staff realised her own situation they encouraged her to apply as she met all the criteria, one of which is to own your own land.  Margarita has owned her site for 10 years and has been living with Diego and Gabby up till now.  It is still amazing to think what a difference this will make to her life, we are thankful for the opportunity to sow into her and her families future and we are encouraged by the work that Homes of Hope and the YWAM team will do in the future.20140930_114912
