20140929_083618 The morning dawned overcast which we were all pretty pleased about, we headed out to the base for a 7am breakfast and to help pack the gear for the day.  We arrived out to the colonias quite early to meet with Margarita,  how great is it that we are building for the same family!  Diego and Gabby enjoyed their house over the weekend, we were interested to know if they had moved anything, but Margarita said no they were just getting used to it as is.

The guys were feeling pretty confident about what they neeeded to do this time and got straight to work with putting up the metal framing.  As confident were the painters, who found a great bit of shade to set up in and we were into it with the pink paint, it is such a gloriously happy colour!  We had heaps of help with the painting from some of the local boys and girls they were so helpful but sometimes a little heavy handed and it was a little difficult trying to explain that we had two coats to do and only one pail of paint.  They were friendly and helpful and also enjoyed the odd game of soccer while the paint was drying!

20140929_144357Progress seemed quick today everyone got stuck in and tried to get the most done that they could while we were still fresh! So framing went up, all the siding went up painted and then half the house had a second coat, the wiring went in, a couple of sheets of gib were hung and then we called it a day.  It was actually the hottest day so far in the end, even one of the builders from Homes of Hope said the same!  The kids were amazing once again, just the way they can have fun despite the language barrier, today they produced some pretty decent balloon animals! All the guys are pretty tired tonight and the mums are just so grateful that we could once again enjoy a meal cooked and cleared away by someone else, thanks to the Kitchen staff at the YWAM Base, we just feel so grateful to you!

Bring on Day 2!
