As we finished yesterday on the building site we all dragged ourselves into the vans for the ride home – absolutely knackered. Every one of the team had completely emptied themselves in serving Diego, Gabbi and their family. It may sound a bit cheesy, but we’re very proud of all our kids for how hard they worked.
As I crawled into bed early last night I had sore feet, sore hands and a sore head. What hit me hardest was the heat, I guess it was close to 40 degrees in the heat of the early afternoon. At one stage the Medic asked me to take some time in the shade to cool off, and I was glad to oblige!
The Homes of Hope team we worked with were fantastic. Josh, Miguel, Berto and Brent were fantastic leaders on the tools. Shauna, Cara and Micah served us cool drinks, snacks and lunch. Shauna had to wash a few wounds and apply disinfectant to cuts, but fortunately there were no major injuries.
We woke this morning to rain which means we have a late start today – we’re all pretty happy about that! My sore feet are demanding rest which means I can’t walk to Looney Bean… I guess it’s bad coffee for me while I wait for the van to pick us up
